I have bounced between artist, teacher and designer throughout my career. In 2020 my passion for painting was re-ignited, what started off creating an abstract painting as a favour helped me to reconnect to painting. People and being social is my true passion, I am drawn to portraits and emotion.  I like to work on a larger scale and to paint with my fingers allowing the paint take me on the journey.

From the Isle of Man originally, I studied Surface Pattern Design in Huddersfield, England and spent a year studying Art in Oslo, Norway in the Erasmus program. This gave me a good basis to start work in the design field. Working in a fashion design studio and Home furnishings company in Sydney, Australia and textile design studio here in lovely Vienna, Austria was a fantastic experience and has of course had an influence on my work. Setting up Emma’s Art Room to teach art to children here in Vienna was one my best decisions. I love teaching and I get a similar buzz from teaching as I do from painting and inspiration comes in both directions. I am now fully settled into Vienna with my German husband (who is a whizz with computers/technology) and two little girls who keep me on my toes(giving me tips and tough criticism).
